~Pastor Ronald and Leading Lady Terra S. Thompson

History of Covenant Missionary Baptist Church

On October 30, 2016, the members of Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, by the vote of the majority, elected Reverend Ronald O. Thompson, Sr. as their second pastor. On November 1, 2016, he gladly accepted his ministerial charge to take them into their divine destiny. The Lord has been good to Covenant MBC. He gifted us with a Pastor who means so much to his congregation. His love for God and people is surmountable!  It has been a blessing to watch Pastor Thompson as he has led us to blessings over blessing that God has/have in-store for the ministry.  A very “passionate” man of God who has brought much enthusiasm and joy to his leadership.  Someone who is definitely a ‘giver’ of himself to all.  He empowered his members with the Word of God to strengthen ourselves and grow our spiritual relationship with God.   Let’s go! Let’s move! Let’s get it! Keep going! Keep trusting! Don’t give up! Stay focus!  Work hard! Work harder! Invite someone! It has been a few affirmations and encouragement that he has provided his members. His main goal and focus for Covenant MBC was to find CMBC family a new place that we could call home!  The Lincoln Street property was sold and the congregates declared God''s divine power onto North Fraser Street.

His goal was accomplished!  With much, much negotiation, on-going efforts and faith, Pastor Thompson were able to secure 2507 North Fraser Street as our new home –a worship building.  The task wasn’t easy, but with much prayer, dedication, hope, favor and all the graces and mercies, God opened the door for Covenant MBC through Pastor Thompson.  We were/are elated!! All praise and glory belongs to God!  Pastor Thompson along with approval from the congregation launched Discount Warehouse- Wholesale Discount of Georgetown located in the Kensington Community, a business aiming to help the community by offering low prices on ALL merchandise ranging from appliances, tools, flooring, doors just a to name a few and to assist with the financial needs of the ministry.  This was a huge success! No one said it would be easy when working/worshipping God! We were unaware of the task that was ahead of us in securing our new worship center. Pastor Thompson met SO many challenges and obstacles in ALL and ANY way that the devil could throw at him.  He kept pushing and pushing and pushing and dodging and dodging all the darts thrown his  way.  We kept him prayed up – asking GOD to keep him covered (strengthen, protected, guidance, endurance, etc.…) as he went about doing His work!  Despite the disappointments that tried to shake our faith and kick us down, Pastor Thompson reassured us that everything was going to be alright.  He told us to keep praying and pushing. He believed and we believed that God hadn’t brought us thus far to leave us – and He didn't!

We made it!  With GOD’s undeserving grace and mercy and Pastor Thompson’s commitment, dedication and work ethnic, CMBC is no longer in the wilderness and are now witnesses of God's manifestation for Covenant Missionary Baptist Church.  As we continue to grow, renovate our new edifice our doors are ALWAYS open.  Just come in-no invitation's  needed.  The Pastor and the CMBC Family will give a warm WELOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!   "Only What's Done for the Christ Will Last"  1 Corinthians 15:58.
